Temple of Curves

For this project I took inspiration from the Ancient Greeks, specifically the temples of Apollo in Delphi and the Parthenon in Athens. As a Classical Studies major I often find inspiration from the clean geometry of the ancient temples. Instead of celebrating a god I thought it was best to celebrate all things with a spherical form; circles, cylinders and some of the different forms they can take. I have always known that there was a lot of planning when building thee massive projects so I wanted to try out a similar process on a much smaller scale. I used Rhino to 3D model what I envisioned as a similar temple style to those I have come in contact with in the Hellenistic and Roman styles. This project was actually a great insight into how incredibly hard it must have been to originally design temples of such great artistry and magnitude with only a stylus, some papyri and some chisels.
