For our 3D joinery project my partner, Melissa, and I decided to make something actually useable and made a lamp! This turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. Our problems started with using 123D make. We used this system to help determine where the cuts for the lamp should be in the laser process. We wanted our lamp to be extremely stable so we made a lot of segments; unfortunately this made it more like a house of cards. Because we had cut in acrylic, instead of wood, the peices were very slippery and we actually ended up having to use some glue because while the peices wit together they would all slip apart when you moved the lamp. Overal it was incredible to see how these things worked and that we really could create something real even though it came out a little haphazard way. We ordered a lightbulb and socket with a wire last week and we can't wait to light it up !
